Install CodeSense

Status: Shipped

CodeSense runs locally on macOS. You do not sign in to a CodeSense service or connect a code-host account to get started.

Install and open

Download the macOS app from the CodeSense download page, move it to Applications, and open it. Follow the dependency check if Git is missing. Install the agent CLI you want to use and authenticate it using that CLI’s own instructions.

Choose your local profile

A new installation starts with a local profile. If CodeSense finds several historical profiles, choose the one whose local data you want to use. A profile separates local attachments and workspace state; it is not a service login. You can change it later in Settings → Account.

Create or attach your context

Choose Create local organization to initialize a new context repository in a folder you choose, or Attach context repository for an existing checkout prepared by your agent or Git CLI. Review the exact new folder before creating; existing folders are never replaced. Create your first team, then attach source repositories. See Create or attach an organization for the workflow and local MCP tools.

The top-right navigation opens Routines, Agents, Inbox, Machines, and Settings. Agents manages agent accounts; Machines manages SSH machines and trust. Both remain available before a team is attached.

Updates

Use the app’s update prompt when available. You can also install a newer downloaded app over the existing installation. Your context repositories remain in their chosen folders.
