Private beta
Private beta terms
Version 2026-10-15 · Last updated
These are the terms for using CodeSense during the private beta. We've kept them short and plain. By activating or using a beta build, you agree to them.
Your license to use CodeSense
We give you a limited, revocable, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to install and use CodeSense beta builds for your own work, on up to 3 Macs, for as long as the private beta runs. Your beta key is for you; you can't sell, lend or transfer it, or this license, to anyone else.
CodeSense itself stays ours. These terms don't give you any other rights in it.
Builds expire
Each beta build stops working 90 days after its release. The app tells you before that happens, and updating to the latest build keeps you going. If the app can't reach our update check, it keeps working for 14 days, then asks to go online once.
Please don't share builds or keys
There's no NDA. You're welcome to talk about CodeSense, show it to people and write about it. Please don't redistribute beta builds, forward your download links, or share your beta key. If someone you know wants in, send them to the beta page.
Your work stays yours
We claim no rights in your code, your team's context, or anything you make with CodeSense. CodeSense runs on your Mac, and your work lives on your Mac and your own git host.
Feedback
If you send us feedback, ideas or bug reports, you give us permission to use them to improve CodeSense, without owing you anything for it. We won't publish your name or anything that identifies you or your company without asking first.
It's a beta: no warranty
Beta builds are unfinished. They will have bugs, things will change, and features may disappear. CodeSense is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that it will be fit for a particular purpose, work without interruption, or be free of errors. Keep your work committed and pushed, as you would anyway.
Limits on our liability
As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost data, profits or revenue, that come from using or not being able to use CodeSense during the beta. As far as the law allows, our total liability to you for anything to do with the beta is limited to US$100. Some places don't allow some of these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
Ending the beta, or your access
- You can stop at any time: remove the app, and if you like, ask us to delete your data (see privacy).
- We can end your access at any time by revoking your beta key, for example if you break these terms. If we end it for any other reason, we'll tell you why.
- The private beta ends with at least 30 days' notice by email. We'll tell you then what happens next for your install.
When your access ends, the app stops opening your workspace. Your files, repositories and worktrees stay on your Mac, untouched. The sections on your work, feedback, warranty and liability still apply after these terms end.
Your data
How we handle your data is on the privacy page, and in more detail on data practices. In short: the app sends no telemetry, and its only automatic calls are the daily update check and the background update download, both to our update server.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we'll update the version and date at the top of this page and email you before the change applies. If you keep using the beta after that, the new terms apply.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute is heard in the state or federal courts located in San Diego County, California.
Contact
CodeSense is operated by Trevor Alfstad, an individual based in San Diego, California.
